Laidback Luke has a residency at Light this year in Vegas, moving on from his residency at Hakkasan. Working in Vegas is amazing and drastically different then playing in the festival shows.

Laidback Luke travels to Ibiza, Ireland, Belgium and England. Though the DJ is constantly traveling and on tour, he does find time to keep himself in shape. That’s because he’s a high-level martial artist.

“Whenever I hit a new hotel, I immediately check out its exercise room,” he says. “I’ve tried to live the life of a rock ‘n’ roll DJ but it doesn’t work for me. I take over 200 flights a year and it would drive me insane not to have an outlet for working out.”

Casino Employees Donate 1,529 Hours

Santa Ana Star Casino manager, employees, their friends and families donated 1,529 hours of community service during the holiday season for the casino’s “1,000 Hours of Charitable Giving” program.

Helping efforts included volunteering at Haven House, the domestic violence center for Sandoval County, sorting toys donated for hospitalized children at the University of New Mexico Children’s Hospital, helping paint a learning center at a New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranch satellite facility and helping serve a holiday meal for people in need at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho.

Santa Ana Star Casino Employees Top Goal of 1,000 Hours of Giving

Santa Ana Star Casino has completed its “addition” and announced that casino leadership and team members, as well as their friends and families, donated a total of 1,529 hours of community service during the recent holiday season.

The volunteer effort included 185 participants and was in support of the casino’s “1,000 Hours of Charitable Giving” program.

“The past six months, it’s been really crazy,” she says during an interview from Los Angeles. “This week is an off week for me and I get to drink coffee and rest. Then I’m back on the road to perform and meet some new people.”

He Does Exist: Meet the Real St. Nick in Town

He’s not the original St. Nick, but Nick Stephens is one of Santa’s helpers in the Rio Rancho area.

Stephens, 68, is proudly carrying on something started by his father, Ivan Stephens, in Colusa, Calif., six decades ago. It’s a literal “like father, like son” holiday tradition…

He worked in telecommunications for 32 years (“Don’t say I was a cable guy, say I was a cable man,” he requested), drove a school bus for Rio Rancho Public Schools for six years, and now works at the casino as a “Nick-of-all-trades,” if you’ll pardon the expression. He drives the shuttle vans, keeps tabs on vehicle maintenance and sometimes serves as a valet. And he was the man in red for the company’s Christmas party, of course.

More than 250 people came along to the Santa Ana Star Center on Tuesday to enjoy a traditional holiday meal offered free through a partnership between the Star Center, Santa Ana Star Casino, St. Felix Pantry, Ovations Food Services and food distributor Sysco.

This was the third consecutive year the partners had organized the event and the largest turnout so far, said casino spokeswoman Shannon Guess.
