Recycling Drive Helps You Get Rid of Electronics Around Your House

The Santa Ana Star Casino, Albuquerque Recycling Inc., and the town of Bernalillo are teaming up to help you get rid of junk around your house. They’re hosting an electronics recycling drive Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the casino’s southeast parking lot.

It’s an effort to make sure old cell phones and computers don’t end up in landfills.  According to the Environmental Protection Agency, nearly 385 million computer products, cell phones, and other electronics were thrown out in 2010. Only 19 percent of those items were recycled.

Recognizing its table game players with some extra perks is what Santa Ana is kicking off this month. Star Rewards Club card members can now earn points on top of the earned rewards that they already have been accruing. For the first time, patrons can now get cash back on table play.

Santa Ana offers 27 table games, which include Pai Gow, Ultimate Texas Hold Em’, Single Deck Blackjack, Double Deck Blackjack, Blackjack, Roulette, Craps and Three-Card Poker.

Switch to LED Lights is a Trend

Santa Ana Star Casino has retrofitted indoor and outdoor lighting systems with new technology that is being widely adopted for business and residential use.

The casino on Santa Ana Pueblo land just west of Bernalillo recently completed an 18-month project, switching from fluorescent lighting to LED – light emitting diode – technology that provides a brighter light using less energy, casino spokeswoman Shannon Guess said.

Crazy Legs Heads to Burque

Diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a youth, he uses a wheelchair—hence the nickname “Crazy Legs,” which is often the starting point of his comedy. With his dry humor and well-crafted one-liners, Fonseca “was on every sitcom in that decade,” he says…

Romero Awards for casino marketing announced

The Casino Marketing Conference, which was held in late July in Las Vegas, is among the fastest growing trade events in gaming. Its centerpiece is the Romero Awards, named after the famed industry author, John Romero, who started out at Del Webb’s Sahara in 1960 and has since distinguished himself as the world’s foremost authority on casino marketing and promotions.

Lots of Slots: Promotions, That is; Also Car Giveaways and a Powwow

The casino will host “Bernalillo Day at The Star” on July 29 in appreciation of the town of Bernalillo. During the event, there will be hot-seat drawings from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Four winners will be drawn each hour. Winners will receive $25, but winners who show a valid ID showing they live in Bernalillo’s 87004 zip code, will double his or her prize.

Bernalillo residents in that zip code area also will receive a free burrito from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Mesa Grille, a commemorative water bottle and 15 percent off at Sadie’s at the Star. It’s just the casino’s way of saying thank you to all of its Bernalillo patrons.

Fresh Air Gambling is Now Available

Non-smokers who want to play the slots at the Santa Ana Star Casino no longer risk coming home smelling of cigarettes.

The casino on Santa Ana Pueblo land just west of the town of Bernalillo has created an enclosed smoke-free zone within the gaming facility that is equipped with its own air filtration system.

The 11,000-square-foot zone takes the place of the casino’s former non-smoking slot machine area. It is closed by a floor-to-ceiling glass paneling that completely separates it from the main gaming area, where smoking is allowed.

Now Santa Ana Star Casino is offering its own version, which caters to patrons who want to enjoy the gaming floor without the smoke.

The new area at Santa Ana Star Casino has its own independent air filtration system, which uses fresh air. The new smoke-free gaming area replaces the nonsmoking slot area. The new area is enclosed by modern floor-to-ceiling glass paneling.
