Electronics Recycling Event at Santa Ana Star Casino
The Pueblo of Santa Ana, N.M. – Sept. 24, 2015

The Pueblo of Santa Ana, N.M. – Sept. 24, 2015 – Santa Ana Star Casino, New Mexico’s Best Bet, is teaming up with Albuquerque Recycling, Inc. and the Town of Bernalillo to keep electronics out of landfills and protect the environment by hosting an electronics recycling event. Guests are invited to drop off old or broken electronics for recycling in the casino’s south parking lot on Saturday, Sept. 26, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

“Living in a technology-based world where many of us replace our electronics every couple of years, it’s easy to accumulate a lot of electronic items that are old, broken or that we just don’t use anymore,” said Santa Ana Star Casino Director of Marketing Tammy Neil. “Santa Ana Star Casino’s electronics recycling event gives people an easy and secure way to properly dispose of these items. Last year we kept more than 10 tons of electronics out of landfills, and we’re hoping to do it again.”

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), nearly 2 million tons of computer products, cell phones and other forms of electronic waste were discarded in 2013. Although the rate of electronics recycling has more than doubled in recent years, jumping from 19 percent in 2009 to 40 percent in 2013, electronics remains one of the fastest-growing categories of municipal waste.

At Santa Ana Star Casino’s electronics recycling event, Albuquerque Recycling, Inc. will be accepting computers, printers, copiers, cell phones, stereos, blue ray and DVD players and more. Projection and CRT (cathode ray tube) televisions and monitors will not accepted at this event. Most electronics will be accepted free of charge, however several items including microwave ovens, printers and copiers have a small disposal fee. Albuquerque Recycling Inc. will also perform data destruction on all hard drives and provide certificates of data destruction upon request.

For a complete list of accepted items and prices, please visit www.albuquerquerecycling.net or call (505) 990-3732.
