Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel, New Mexico’s Best Bet, is teaming up with Unicor LLC to host a free community shredding event on Saturday, Sept. 18, between 9 a.m. and noon.
“Paper shredding events like this make it easier than ever for the people of our community to securely dispose of their documents in a safe, secure and environmentally friendly way,” said Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel Director of Marketing Tammy Neil. “Now more than ever, it’s extremely important to combat identity theft and prevent personal information from falling into the wrong hands.”
Guests are invited to bring paper documents to the event, where they will be securely destroyed and recycled. Unicor LLC will be accepting paper documents for destruction, and guests can each bring a maximum of two cardboard boxes or one standard trash bag of paper to the event. All documents will be securely destroyed and then recycled. This is a free event open to all members of the community.
According to the 2021 Identity Fraud Study by Javelin Strategy & Research, more and more people are personally paying out of pocket for fraud, and identity fraud losses in 2020 reached a total of $56 billion.
