Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel, New Mexico’s Best Bet, is teaming up with Unicor LLC to host a free community shredding event. Aimed at combatting identity theft, guests are invited to bring paper documents to the event on Saturday, Sept. 21, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m., where they will be securely destroyed and recycled.
“Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel remains committed to making it easier than ever for the people of our community to securely dispose of documents and prevent their personal information from falling into the wrong hands,” said Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel Director of Marketing Tammy Neil. “With identity theft increasing exponentially over the past few years, now is the time to take a practical, proactive approach to protecting personal information,”
At Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel’s community shredding event, Unicor LLC will be accepting paper documents for destruction. Guests can each bring a maximum of two cardboard boxes or one standard trash bag of paper to the event. All documents will be securely destroyed and then recycled. This is a free event open to all members of the community.
“It’s our hope that this event will raise awareness about this issue and inspire the people of our community to take practical steps to reduce their risk of identity theft,” said Neil.
According to the 2019 Identity Fraud Study by Javelin Strategy & Research, more and more people are personally paying out of pocket for fraud and 23 percent of fraud victims had unreimbursed personal expenses in 2018.
