Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel, New Mexico’s Best Bet, is teaming up with Unicor LLC to host its free community shredding event today, between 9 a.m. and noon.
“With identity theft steadily increasing over the past few years, The Star is proud to provide our community with a safe and secure way to dispose of their paper documents,” said Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel Director of Marketing Tammy Neil. “This event makes it easy and convenient for our community residents to protect their sensitive and personal information so that it doesn't become compromised or end up in the wrong hands,” said Neil.
Guests are invited to bring paper documents to the event, where they will be securely destroyed and recycled. Unicor LLC will be accepting paper documents for destruction, and guests can each bring a maximum of two cardboard boxes or one standard trash bag of paper to the event. All documents will be securely destroyed and then recycled. This is a free event open to all members of the community.
To avoid having your sensitive information compromised, security experts recommend shredding the following types of materials: old documents that carry your Social Security number, birth date, signature, account numbers, passwords or PINs, bank and credit card documents, unneeded medical bills, investment account statements and obsolete ID cards.
