Santa Ana Star Casino Serves Community with “Hearts to Hands”
The Pueblo of Santa Ana, N.M. – Jan. 13, 2015

The Pueblo of Santa Ana, N.M. – Jan. 13, 2015 – Santa Ana Star Casino, New Mexico’s Best Bet, is giving back to the community and serving those in need by launching a company-wide volunteering initiative called the “Hearts to Hands Community Outreach Program.” Through “Hearts to Hands,” casino team members will participate in hands-on volunteer events year-round, offering their time and talents to support community events, local nonprofit organizations and community service projects.

“Helping people is a tremendous part of what we do at Santa Ana Star Casino, but more importantly, it’s a tremendous part of who we are,” says Santa Ana Star Casino General Manager John Cirrincione. “It is critical that our team be involved in the community and understand the importance of giving to others. Over the years, The Star has given back to the community in a variety of ways, but ‘Hearts to Hands’ is our first year-round program that provides every team member the opportunity to contribute to the community and make a difference. We are empowering our team to go out and get things done to make this community a better place for the people who live, work and play here.”

Santa Ana Star Casino’s “Hearts to Hands” volunteers, along with their friends and families, participated in three service projects in December of 2014. Volunteers decorated a local retirement community for the holidays, assisted Children’s Miracle Network in sorting thousands of donated toys for hospitalized children and served a free holiday-style meal to more than 200 people in the Rio Rancho area during the annual St. Felix Pantry Holiday Meal.

“The incredible level of support and enthusiasm with which our team members have embraced ‘Hearts to Hands’ has been remarkable and humbling,” says Cirrincione. “This team truly cares. In fact, our team’s compassion and willingness to get involved are so great that we’ve had to create waiting lists for service projects because they fill up so fast.”

The first “Hearts to Hands” service project of 2015 is scheduled for Jan. 14, where “Hearts to Hands” volunteers will join Children’s Miracle Network again to sort and organize donations for patients of University of New Mexico Children’s Hospital. In 2015, “Hearts to Hands” volunteers will also undertake service projects in partnership with community organizations including Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity, Haven House, St. Felix Pantry, New Mexico Veterans Integration Centers and more.
