Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel, New Mexico’s Best Bet, welcomes world-renowned comedian and blue comedy pioneer Dave Attell to The Stage on Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20. Attell will perform two shows each night with the first beginning at 7 p.m. and the second at 9:30 p.m.
Attell began performing stand-up comedy at open mic nights throughout Manhattan in the late ‘80s, but it wasn’t until “Saturday Night Live” creator Lorne Michaels saw him appear on “The Late Show with David Letterman” in the early 90’s that his career as a professional comedian took off. Michaels recruited Attell as a writer for the show, which led to on-camera opportunities and opened doors that moved Attell into the mainstream comedy scene. After successfully developing a relationship with HBO, Attell appeared in two HBO specials alongside Anthony Clark, Eric Tunney and Dave Chappelle and starred in his own 60-minute installment of HBO Comedy Showcase. Known as the king of off-color humor and for his bold, raw style of comedy, Attell masterfully delivers to his audience a show that is unassumingly clever and full of perfectly crafted punchlines. Attell’s other television credits include “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” where he was a writer and commentator, Comedy Central’s “Insomniac with Dave Attell” a travelogue show where he would act as a “tour guide” and travel from city to city looking for late-night fun and “Comedy Underground with Dave Attell” which featured mostly uncensored stand-up performances and guest comedians including Amy Schumer, Ari Shaffer, Jeff Ross, Brad Williams, Nikki Glaser, Louis Katz and Ralphie May among others.
Tickets to Dave Attell’s performances at The Stage at Santa Ana Star Casino range between $20 and $50 and can be purchased online at www.thestageatthestar.com. Attendees must be 21 years old or older. For more information, please call (505) 771-5680.
