The Stage Welcomes Lighter Shade of Brown

The Pueblo of Santa Ana, N.M. – March 19, 2015 – Santa Ana Star Casino, New Mexico’s Best Bet, welcomes ‘90s hip-hop sensation, Lighter Shade of Brown, to The Stage on Friday, March 27. Doors open at 9 p.m.

Lighter Shade of Brown is a Mexican-American hip-hop duo made up of “One Dope Mexican” (Robert Gutierrez) and “Don’t Try to Xerox” (Bobby Ramirez). Based out of Riverside, Calif., the duo formed in 1990 and landed a record deal with Pump, a small independent record label. The duo released their biggest hit, “On a Sunday Afternoon,” the same year, which became an international hit and peaked at No. 39 on Billboard’s Hot 100. Bringing a relaxed, fun approach to West Coast hip-hop, the duo released a total of six albums between 1990 and 1999. Lighter Shade of Brown also composed songs for Latino-market movies including “Mi Vida Loca” and “I Like It Like That.” 

Tickets to Lighter Shade of Brown’s performance at The Stage at Santa Ana Star Casino cost $9.51 and can be purchased online at www.thestageatthestar.com.
