Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel, New Mexico's Best Bet, welcomes popular actress and comedienne Maria Bamford to The Stage on Friday, June 29. Bamford will perform two shows beginning at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Although she has a background in improv, Maria Bamford first took up the art of stand-up comedy in a Minneapolis nightclub when she was 19. Since then she has proven herself as one of the most interesting and multitalented entertainers in the business. Named one of Rolling Stone's "50 Funniest People," she casts herself as the subject of much of her comedy, sharing hilarious, self-deprecating vignettes that examine her dysfunctional family and generally high-strung, anxious nature. With an endless supply of voice impressions and intonations, she taps into her inner monologues and brings the characters from her stories to life. Bamford won an American Comedy Award in 2014 for "Best Club Comic." She was also the first woman to have two half-hour "Comedy Central Presents" specials, and she's released seven comedy albums in her career. In addition to comedy, Bamford is a prolific actor with credits including roles on Netflix's "Arrested Development," FX's "Louie," Comedy Central's "Kroll Show" and USA's "Benched," as well as a voice actor who has provided voice work for shows such as Cartoon Network's "Adventure Time," PBS's "WordGirl" and Nickelodeon's "Kung Fu Panda."
Tickets to Maria Bamford's performances at The Stage at Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel range between $15 and $30 and can be purchased online at www.thestageatthestar.com. Attendees must be 21 years old or older. For more information, please call (505) 771-5680.
